Lakeside Organic (12:35) |  Jelich Ranch (6:55)  |  Tomatero Farm (2:08)  |  Dr. Laura Enfield (15:35)  |  Marlise Carroll (26:08)

The event featured two panel-style discussions in the upstairs cooking school. The first discussion provided a forum for local organic farmers to discuss their methods of farming and educate shoppers on the nutritional value differences between organic and conventional produce, among many other topics. Farmers offered fruit and vegetable samples from their demo tables located throughout the produce department. The event was free and open to the public.

Participating farms included: Baia Nicchia, Tomatero, Jelich Ranch, Capay Farms, Lakeside Organic and Earl’s Organic Produce
A second panel-style discussion will feature nutrition experts. Topics included: why organic is better, studies showing more nutrients and vitamins in organic versus conventional produce; the role of folic acid from organic vegetables and cancer prevention; and enzymes and compounds in fruits and veggies that disable and eliminate carcinogens.

Participating nutritionists included: Dr. Laura Enfield, a licensed naturopathic doctor and acupuncturist; Dr. Bradley West, a licensed naturopathic doctor, who is also Research Advisor for Nordic Naturals in Watsonville; Marlese R. Carroll, CNC, and Chef/Author Lauren Hoover.
